La Brea Tar Pits!

Going back in time at the La Brea Tar Pits!

A visit to our La Brea Tar Pits is always fun because it gives us the opportunity to travel back in time and get a glimpse of what life was like for our prehistoric friends, the Mammoths and Mastodons.

The La Brea Tar Pits Museum is the most famous fossil dig site to date. Located in the heart of Los Angeles and home to more than 3 million Ice Age specimens. You will find the fossils of Sabertooth Tigers, Dire Wolves, Mammoths and much more.

If you're visiting the museum for the first time, I would definitely stop by the Fossil Lab and witness discoveries being made every day. You can watch as paleontologists clean, study and prepare fossils for exhibits. You will also have the opportunity to chat with these paleontologists and ask them any questions you might have about where fossils came from, how they are discovered and what is the rarest fossil ever found.

The team at the La Brea Tar Pits is currently working on Project 23, a rich deposit that has unearthed Ice Age fossils from extinct animals that were trapped in the asphalt of the Los Angeles Basin over 10,000 years ago. We can't wait to get back and explore these new discoveries!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was invited to explore the museum in order to facilitate my review. These are just my two cents!
