It's no secret that I live, eat and sleep Disney! I will find any excuse to celebrate my love for Disney any chance I can get. When I was selected as a host of a DisneySide @ Home Celebration, I was ecstatic! I instantly knew what my theme was going to be and started planning out my menu. I believe food and snacks are the best way to represent a theme and with Disney the possibilities are endless. When I found out that my friend Tee Burgess from ThatsItMommy.com was also selected to host, we just knew we were going to co-host our party together! The theme for our #DisneySide @ Home Celebration was "Taste of Disney" and we wanted our guests to join us as we take our taste buds on a visit to Disney Parks! We served some of our favorite foods from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, CA.
Here's a recap of the delicious dishes on our menu:
-BLT Flatbread Pizza/Village Haus Restaurant/FantasyLand/Disneyland
-Turkey Legs/Disneyland
-Churros/Disneyland/Disney California Adventure
-Frozen Lemonade/Disneyland
-Popcorn/Disneyland/Disney California Adventure
-Boudin Sourdogh Bread Bowl/Pacific Wharf Café/Disney California Adventure
-Corn Dogs/Corn Dog Castle/Disney California Adventure
-Beignets/Mint Julep Bar/Disneyland
-Caramel Apples/Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café/Disney California Adventure
-Pretzel Bites/Cozy Cone Motel/CarsLand/Disney California Adventure
-Chicken Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta/Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta/Disney California Adventure
and so much more!
With so many awesome Disney films gearing up to release in theaters this year, we wanted to share our anticipation by setting up a few stations that highlight these films. Tee worked on Muppets Most Wanted themed snacks and a Disney Planes: Fire & Rescue station. I created a Frozen station complete with a plush Elsa to greet our guests.
One of my favorite stations was my homage to Disney Villains because both Tee and I are dying to see Maleficent! I went with the poison apples offered to Snow White by her incredibly wicked step-mother disguised as an old peddler. My youngest son actually asked me if I poisoned anything! Love him!
We had so many fun activities planned for the kids! We kicked off the party with a Disney Karaoke Jam Session. Even the parents wanted to get down to some Disney Classics. After about an hour of singing and dancing, we sat down to design Hanes t-shirts with fabric markers. The kids all had a blast using their imaginations to create the perfect tees. Instead of picking just one winner...THEY ALL WON! No Disney party would be complete without a Disney Infinity Arcade! The kids all ran upstairs to play their favorite video game. Finally we took the party outside for a few rounds of Disney Bingo. I couldn't think of a better bingo marker than our awesome Disney Infinity Figures!
The Disney fun kept on going late into the evening. We watched Disney Movies, ate Disney snacks, colored Disney coloring sheets and so much more.
Our guests were so surprised when we turned off all of the lights and prepared for our Disney Fireworks Show! They were all cheering and clapping. It was awesome!
We really had a great time sharing our #DisneySide with our fellow Disney fans. You can explore more Disney magic by visiting http://disneyside.disneyparks.disney.go.com/. We look forward to sharing our #DisneySide at the Disney Parks real soon.
