A new year means new resolutions. For us, it means trying new things such as eating gluten-free. 201 Gluten-Free Recipes for Kids by Carrie S. Forbes is the perfect addition to my library of fun cookbooks. This cookbook is loaded with healthy alternatives for just about every one of your children's favorite meals from chicken nuggets to birthday cakes and all recipes are gluten-free.
Selecting a recipe from this jam-packed cookbook was actually easy. One of my children's favorite dishes is macaroni and cheese. They can actually get a bit picky about their macaroni and cheese so I was a little skeptical about them liking this gluten-free recipe. The Macaroni and Cheese recipe, on page 138, includes gluten-free pasta, gluten-free vegetable broth and shredded cheddar cheese. I've never prepared macaroni and cheese without milk so this will be interesting to see and taste.
They loved it!!! Especially my macaroni and cheese connoisseur! He had no idea it was different from his usual macaroni and cheese and I didn't tell him anything about the changes! If I can continue to sneak in healthier versions of their favorite foods, then this cookbook will be a GOLD MINE!
I noticed that a lot of the recipes are perfect for getting your kids in the kitchen to help prepare their own snacks. I love that! My kids are always in our kitchen and they're going to love helping me make some of the yummy gluten-free desserts from chapter 10.
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was offered a sample copy of the cookbook in order to facilitate my review. These are just my two cents!
