Family Staycation at Hotel Maya

Spring Break is almost here and have I got a family destination for you! We recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at the beautiful Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA. The Hotel Maya is a Doubletree by Hilton hotel located right on the water across from local attractions such as Shoreline Village and The Pike.

We absolutely loved this property from the moment we pulled up. The lobby is so welcoming and full of bold colors and culture. There was a wedding the night that we arrived and my kids were having a blast dancing around to the music playing at the reception. We hung out in the business center, stopped by the snack shop and relaxed in the lobby enjoying the wedding music! We walked around outside and found numerous fire pits to gather around and get toasty. The grounds are just amazing filled with waterfalls, landscaping and an amazing waterfront view.

My kids loved our room! As soon as we walked in they kicked off their shoes and ripped off their pants. Yup, my kids like to relax in their underwear! The room was spacious and we had the most amazing view of Shoreline Village and The Pike. We watched the boats pass by, saw pelicans dive into the water for food and every so often a raccoon or two would enjoy a casual stroll passed our patio.

The following morning we were so excited to order room service for breakfast. My kids and husband had the American Breakfast while I stuffed my face with their Classic French Toast topped with fresh strawberries and bananas. It was so yummy and we just love to have breakfast in our pajamas. My favorite part of the morning was enjoying my coffee outside on the patio watching the water. Priceless!

After breakfast we were off to take a dip in their heated pool. My kids have been dying to swim and I was so happy to find out that the pool is always heated and the weather was going to sunny. We have enjoyed a lot of pools over the years, but the pool at Hotel Maya is officially on my Top 5 list! There is nothing more serene than hanging out poolside and taking in the breathtaking views offered at this waterfront property. Did I mention the floating cabanas? Oh yes! They offer poolside cabanas that are literally floating in their own pool of water. Add to that the large jacuzzi, poolside cafe and seating area with it's own fire pit and you have yourself one fantastic family vacation. We also had the pleasure of meeting an awesome family at the pool and meeting new people makes family staycations all the more memorable!

I love it when a property offers enough activities that will keep my family on property. Hotel Maya does just that. On our way back to our room from the pool we found a new feature that the property just added last Summer called The Playa. The Playa is waterfront sandy beach area with plenty of comfortable seating and fire pits that are just perfect for warming up after a swim or enjoying in the evening. Bring your beach toys and let the kids play in the sand while you catch up on some reading. It's just wonderful. The hotel also offers Beach Volleyball, Basketball, Bocce Ball, Tennis courts and a fitness center. We took a family walk around the property and saw the Queen Mary. You are well within walking distance to so many local attractions like the Aquarium of the Pacific or you can hop on the free shuttle and take a ride over to Shoreline Village where you'll find an arcade and many cute novelty shops.

When the time had come to check out, of course my kids were all emotional and didn't want to leave. This was, by far, one of our most favorite family getaways. We made so many memories at Hotel Maya and Dad was so impressed that he's already planning a return trip for the end of the Summer. I honestly can't say enough about this place. Your family will love staying here and will want to come back again and again.

I want to take a moment and THANK the wonderful STAFF at Hotel Maya for helping us make this trip such a great one. I really hope the STAFF will read this review and feel appreciated because the Hotel Maya is one of only a few hotels in the Long Beach area that are a Union and I know just how hard they work and how well they do their job. Everyone from registration, to the CARELINE to room service, were all so gracious and attentive. Excellent customer service! No matter how amazing a hotel is, it is the STAFF that leaves a lasting impression and it is Customer Service that brings back families time and time again. I remember every smile, every gesture, every kindness, especially to my children. We will definitely be loyal guests of Hotel Maya for many years to come. Thank You all for the memories!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I was offered accommodations in order to facilitate my review. These are just my two cents!

  5. Vacations with family gives a great joy and pleasure. And if the place and also the hotel is best then the vacation becomes the best. So, it is very necessary to choose a correct place and hotel. You can find best Kambalda accommodation in Australia.

  7. Have you noticed that shopping mall food courts are almost entirely made out of franchise businesses? Using a broker you too can easily buy a franchise business.
