For all you Chronicles of Narnia fans out there...have you seen The Unofficial Narnia Cookbook? Well, it's here and it's filled with over 150 recipes inspired by the film! Dinah Bucholz has done it again with this wonderful cookbook which allows you to recreate some of Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter's favorite meals from Narnia.
I am a firm believer in breakfast being the most important meal of the day so naturally, I selected a few recipes that are perfect for breakfast. My first recipe is called "Stick-to-Your-Ribs Oat Porridge and Cream" from page 11. It's a hearty bowl of oatmeal topped with honey or syrup.
I also wanted a little crunch with my porridge so I made the "Sweet and Crunchy Cinnamon Toast" from page 19. The toast was easy to prepare. Just toast the bread of your choice and spread butter while toast is warm. Then top with cinnamon and sugar. YUM!
I washed my Narnian breakfast down with a hot cup of "Spiced Brown Sugar Coffee" from page 14. I love a great cup of coffee and this is one really great cup of coffee. Brew your usual brand of coffee and add brown sugar, nutmeg, allspice and heavy cream. Amazing! I would've never thought to add spices to my coffee, but I am so glad that I did. Can't wait to make this coffee for guests.
For all of these recipes and more, be sure to grab your copy of The Unofficial Narnia Cookbook and transport your taste buds to the magical world of Narnia.
What a great way to encourage your kids to dive into the books/world and incorporate these recipes as part of that learning experience. Teaching kids how much fun reading can be. Awesome!
