Summer Crafts: Recycled Crayons

Every now and then it's nice to stay inside with the air conditioning on full blast and pull out the old crafts bin. This week we decided to make good use of all the old broken crayons we found around the house. This is a super easy and super fun craft that your kids will enjoy.

What you'll need:

Broken crayons
Cupcake tin
Cupcake liners

Have your kids gather up all of the broken crayons they can find and ask them to start peeling the paper wrapping off. This part is a bit time consuming so I suggest joining them! Next, place the cupcake liners in your cupcake tin. Let the kids fill the liners with the broken crayons. Heat oven to 275 degrees. Bake crayons for about 8-10 minutes. Pull the cupcake tin out of the oven and let stand for 5 minutes. When the cupcake tin has cooled down a bit, place it in the refridgerator for about 10 minutes. Now it's time to pop your new crayons out of the cupcake liners and let the kids color with their awesome creations!

Result: 1 crayon with a lot of colors!
