Get Fit with Got Milk?

Summer is here and having a beach body is top of mind, but experts say keeping healthy shouldn't be a seasonal lifestyle, it should be a way of life. That’s why the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creator of GOT MILK?, is launching an online nutrition and health blog called GET FIT WITH GOT MILK?. It’s a six-month program where users can get help from a dietitian and a personal trainer all for FREE. Experts say six-months are sufficient to see results and to change habits for the better and to achieve the healthy weight and body people have always wanted by the New Year!

“We want Californians to know that they can pick up where they left off in the New Year to get fit,” says Steve James, CMPB executive director. “This program is giving participants a second chance to get involved in a community of people who have the same interests and aspirations to be healthy and fit. With the right foods like milk and the right counseling from key nutrition and fitness experts, online users of the blog will be that much closer to achieving their goals.”

Starting today until Jan. 12, 2011, GOT MILK? is challenging Californians to log on and become members of the GET FIT WITH GOT MILK? blog. Users will receive tips from Mary Barbour, a registered dietitian and member of the California Dietetic Association and Holly Holton, a certified personal trainer and the owner of Pink Iron Women’s Gym in West Hollywood. These nutrition and exercise coaches say the secret to a stronger, leaner and higher-performing body is exercise and proper nutrition that includes low fat or nonfat milk, and chocolate milk post-workout for muscle recovery.

Every week, the blog will be updated with nutrition and fitness tips and videos. There will be recipe tab and a journal section where users can log their daily fitness regimen and food intake as a way to track their overall health goals. Every other week, online users can also participate in live Tweet chats with Barbour and Holton so that they can receive advice from the coaches.

By logging on to, those who become active members are eligible to win $2,500 to GET FIT WITH GOT MILK?. Californians 18 and over must be active participants of the blog and take part in online activities, which include bimonthly Tweet chats. At the end of the program, members will be asked to submit a short essay with before-and-after pictures describing how milk helped them attain their health and fitness goals. Members have until Jan. 12, 2011 by 5 p.m. Pacific Time to submit their entries. The winner will win $2,500 in cash and have his/her story featured on the blog and
